inspired by: jess lc

Jess from Makeunder My Life is one inspiring lady. She took her jewelry brand Jess LC and reinvented it entirely, after finding inspiration from another artist who had a well branded site and look. Yesterday, after months of work, Jess re-launched Jess LC, complete with a new lookbook, new jewelry, and a more user-friendly website. It looks amazing!

PS. To see/hear Jess describe her motivation and inspiration for the big change, this video she took part in is really insightful (first 3:50 of video).

bouncy balls in san francisco

This Bravia commercial captured 250,000 bouncy balls flying down the streets of San Francisco like confetti. The ad is set in slow motion to the song Heartbeats by Jose Gonzales, and I think I've watched it ten times already.

incredible aerials

These aerial shots by National Geographic are amazing. I saw them in an old issue over the weekend and Q found the gallery online. The first documents starfish by the shore, and the second captures a confetti of flags over a shrimp farm.

A few bits of clothing inspiration I recently marked:

1&2: jcrew march & april (pretty florals, stripes, & colors)
3: Kate Spade's Elenore skirt & sparkle herringbone tights (both on clearance, so tempting)

I picked the prettiest ones to share here. Not included: all the outtakes of ourselves at every tourist spot, landmark, and place we ate. (For documentary purposes, of course. :)

balloons...

Jennifer from Little Household had an impromptu photo shoot with giant balloons while setting up for a work event with friends. How cute is she at six months pregnant? I think I need balloons like those for my entire house. (Or maybe just the living room would do.)

You can buy these perfectly huge balloons (in just about any color) from her etsy shop!

creating studio spaces

My plan to someday have my own studio/physical shop in a downtown area is still in its dream stages. Meanwhile, it's fun to follow the progress of other artists as they set up studio spaces - I've been enjoying following both Rifle and The Hive at 1511 lately as they move into their new "homes".

home.

We're back from Hawaii! A bit exhausted, but looking forward to things getting back to normal around here, being in the comforts of home, cooking our own meals & sleeping in our own bed, and (hopefully) spring weather arriving soon.

Speaking of home, I still have over 1,000 unread items in google reader, but I just saw Emerson's home (above) over on Design*Sponge and it is pretty incredible.

vacation & weekend inspiration

We packed up & started the first leg of our Hawaii trip, visiting my parents until we fly out this weekend. Yesterday, I checked out progress on an apartment house my parents own (it's 100+ years old), read an interesting book, and made everyone an indulgent dinner. And today, well...I plan to make cheesecake brownies. Hello, vacation!

Some pretty photos worth checking out from the creative blog, New House Project.

PS. more inspiring things: Jane Austen wedding inspiration, Air Force wife Andrea's blog, Krystle's round-up of pillows, and a fabric inspired cake.
Have a great weekend!

trench coat & hunter boots

The perfect spring/fall/rainy day outfit.

Do you own hunter boots? I'm not sure I could decide on a color.

clothing: stripes

I bought a striped sailor shirt this weekend ($4! on clearance) to add to my growing collection of stripey tops & dresses. They're my closet's new version of polka dots (mild polka dot obsession in high school/college). Stripes are simple but so chic.
